I was forced to read her book, Atlas Shrugged, for philosophy class. It was a very long read for a 19 year old with little attention span. I didn't give it much thought back then. I still have my copy from 1996, and read it again a few years ago. I can see why conservatives would hold some of her ideology in high esteem. I only know about her as an author, and the discussion I had in college some 19 years ago. I will watch these videos later tonight.
I understand that Any Rand supposedly is the founder of Objectivism philosophy, with the main principle of laissez-faire capitalism. I don't see how this is a new concept. All one has to do is research the history of American capitalism in the early 19 hundreds. Read about Standard Oil, and see what happens to a society that has no regulation, or government intervention.
